Born: March 17, 1951 (age 64), Springfield, Massachusetts, United States.

Russell also played baseball in the minor leagues in the early 1970s, but ultimately refocused on acting following an injury to his shoulder. Russell's notable films include Escape from New York, Silkwood, Big Trouble in Little China, Backdraft, Stargate and Grindhouse.

In 1969, he graduated from Thousand Oaks High School in southern California. appearing in a number of television and film roles. He had a small part in the Elvis Presley film It Happened at the World’s Fair (1963). went on to play the lead in the Western series The Travels of Jamie McPheeters (1963-64).  The Disney films he appeared in include Follow Me Boys! (1966), The Horse in the Gray Flannel Suit (1968), The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes (1969), The Barefoot Executive (1971) and The Strongest Man in the World (1975).


Acting Success:

 He was able to segue into a successful acting career as an adult. He received acclaim for his turn in the title role in the made-for-TV movie Elvis (1979). The performance also garnered Russell an Emmy Award nomination. Being cast in director John Carpenter’s futuristic action film Escape from New York (1981), In 1996, he reprised the role of the eye-patched cult hero in Escape from L.A.

Russell has moved from action to comedy to drama, and back again. In 1983, he worked opposite Meryl Streep and Cher in Silkwood. Russell was given a Golden Globe nomination for his performance in the film. from the 1980s include Big Trouble in Little China (1986), Overboard (1987) and Tequila Sunrise (1988)His friend, Ron Shelton wrote the Crash Davis role in La bella y el campeón (1988) for him. The studio insisted on Kevin Costner, though. Winter People (1989) and finally, his career seemed to be seriously stalled.  only landed Tango y Cash (1989)  Among his notable later films are Backdraft (1991), Stargate (1994), Breakdown (1997), Dark Blue (2003) and Poseidon (2006).  Made his film debut in the Elvis Presley film, Rubias, morenas y pelirrojas (1963). He later went on to play him in Elvis (1979), and to provide his voice in Forrest Gump (1994).In Tombstone (1993) for his role, he was trained by renowned Hollywood Gun Coach Thell Reed, who has also trained such actors as: Val Kilmer, Bill Paxton, Sam Elliott, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Foster and Girard Swan.

Recent Proyects:

has made fewer film appearances in recent years, he found time to work with Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez on Grindhouse (2007).

In 2006, Russell revealed that he was the director of Tombstone, not George P. Cosmatos, as credited. According to Russell, Cosmatos was recommended by Sylvester Stallone
and was, in effect, a ghost director, much as he had been for Rambo: First Blood Part II, and
Poseidon his role was Robert Ramsey and in 2005 played Steve Stronghold / The Commander in the Sky High
 Russell said he promised Cosmatos he would keep it a secret as long as Cosmatos was alive; Cosmatos died in April 2005. Russell owns the rights to the masters and makes reference to possibly re-editing the film, as he was not originally involved in the editing.
 


Russell appeared in The Battered Bastards of Baseball, a documentary about his father and the Portland Mavericks, which debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in 2014. He co-starred in the action thriller Furious 7 , Bone Tomahawk (Sheriff Franklin Hunt), The Hateful Eight (John "The Hangman" Ruth) on 2015, in 2016 he appearing such as Brendan in Deepwater Horizon and on 2017, he will be appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 such as
Peter Quill's father

Personal Life :

Russell married actress Season Hubley, whom he met on the set of Elvis in 1979. They had a son, Boston (born 1980). In 1983, in the middle of his divorce from Hubley, Russell re-connected with Goldie Hawn on the set of the film Swing Shift, and they have been in a relationship ever since. They own a home in Palm Desert, California. They have a son, Wyatt (born 1986). In 1987, the couple starred in the film Overboard. Hawn's son and daughter with Bill Hudson, actors Oliver and Kate Hudson, consider Russell to be their father.
